Gemma Arterton in Lanvin | London Evening Standard Theatre Awards

Gemma Arterton rocked a heavily embellished black monochrome look for the 58th annual London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, which were held on Sunday night in England.

The “Songs For Marion” actress hit the black carpet in a strapless neoprene bustier dress from the Fall 2012 collection by Lanvin, which featured a full jewel-embellished motif on the front that included beaded mirrored leaves and large glass jewels. This dress is currently available through FarFetch.com for $8,020.

Gemma wore her long loose waves in a unkempt swept ‘do and tried to keep warm with help of a matching wool evening cape. She accessorized with an embellished clutch and oversize bauble earrings that perfectly coordinated with the jewels on her dress. As for her shoes, Gemma slipped on a pair of sheer socks with a pair of woven  platform “Christa” sandals by Bionda Castana with a thick ankle strap and open toe detail.

I liked everything but the shoes. I found the heels to be too chunky to balance with the small dress and the black hosiery just didn’t work with the rest of her ensemble. There may be something dramatic about the entire look where these heels could work, but she didn’t wear the cape the whole night, so I imagine her footwear choice was simply out of place once she stepped inside.
